Poem Commentary

Inspired by a wonderful artist.

Macabre Dreams

Macabre Dreams

Nightfall slowly closes in

The shadows start to move

Enveloped in a chilling dim

Their reality to prove

The darkness covers all around

And vision fades to gray

The heat is drawn from hallowed ground

And the noises come to play

A voice? Then no

A creek in the wind

I swear it said GO!

In the dirt my feet are pinned

An apparition in the woods?

Or mist from a nearby bog?

LOOK there are marks where it once stood!

Left by a falling log?

Now the world is turning

Colors smear and fade

All around me is burning

I cower to evade

Falling I’m falling

With no touch down in sight

Now my psyche is calling

“Cling to me, Take flight”

Soaring, am I free from it?

I scan o’er all I see

Then dive into my brainpan

And to the daylight flee

Thank you . This was inspired by an artist friend of mine that just finished a painting of Edgar Allen Poe.

Nice one Paul. I like the eeriness of it. Reminds me of a night I once spent in a graveyard, on a dare. It was an old and creepy one. I was very thankful to see the dawn break and was quick to leave. I swear something followed me though. It took me a couple of days to get over a feeling of being watched. Thanks for the reminder and share. Please read some of mine if you can find the time....Kevin (a friend of Spence...)

Thank you and GO USF. good game so far(halftime)

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
