My Butterfly Effect

I never meant to hurt you,

You beautiful butterfly,

I never meant to tear off both your wings

And watch you fall to the ground.

Caught in my net when I wasn’t looking,

Sucked the life out of you and stopped you living,

You had so many colours showing off to the world who you were,

I get home to find that you haven’t flown out for weeks.

Rested on a web of trust and fell to the shadow of right,

Snared in the pack of lies, dealt by the fallen sky,

Forgotten in the dead of night, wait for the morning dew,

Arise with the sun, and spread your wings once more.

hi, i really like this poem. i can feel the sorrow in this and hope that one day the butterfly will fly into the sun. i love how you twisted your words, making each line memorizing. my mind exploded with many vivid images. ~ brie

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
