My Mother

Gayla Elaine Collier

2/7/64-07/26/10

My mother is of the Earth

Her hair is the color of the winter forest

Her skin is the color of sand

Her eyes are like the colorful ocean

She is a jewel

My mother is of the Lord

She is kind, sweet, and nurturing

Her heart is stronger than oak

Her hands as soft as rabbits fur

She is an angel

My mother is of beauty

She has a voice that inspires the world

She has a heart that is more precious than gold

She has a smile that enriches lives

She is a rose

My mother is the best person I have ever known

Her soul is trusting

Her spirit is loving

Her heart is compassionate

She is a poem

My mother is of righteousness

She lives a blossom of winter

She breathes a song of sweetness

Her heart beats in the choir of angels

She is God’s child.

Lovely.....so endearing. You show love in a rainbow-carousel of colors and senses.......and, you show us that it is of all mothers, here and gone..................A special one, Rose. gogant

Wow, that was very nice of you to those nice things of your mother. Did you let her read this poem? I wish I could make a poem for my mother.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
