not enough time

daddy you are the strongest man i know
in pain everyday and you never let it show
i don't want to say goodbye to you
18 years isn't enough time with you
you are the best dad i could ask for
you gave me everything i ever wanted and more
i loved the way you'd squeeze me tight
whenever you'd tuck me in at night
you'd say "you're too old to be tucked in"
id say "no i'm not" and id always win
i followed you around everywhere you went
a day with you dad is a day well spent
i truly love you dad with all my heart
you didn't even finish school but you're so smart
i cant stand to let you go you've always been so tough
all the time in the world still wouldn't be enough

a great tribute to your dad. he seems to be the kind of dad all kids would want. the world is a lesser place without him.

A very touching tribute to your father, Raych33. the fact that you would write a poem like this to him, and for him, speakes volumes of your feeling for him , and his for you. Never doubt that he will always be with you, and you with him. Wonderful!

I have never had a poem touch me the way yours did just now, making me fight tears back. This poem is testimony to every moment a child has-every precious one-to spend with their fathers. And when it all comes down to the end the love is the most important part of that relationship. It is not about how many years of education they have, a high paying job, power but only love; so simple when one reads the word. And yet the love of a father is one of the greatest gifts any one person could have. I lost my father in 1995 and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of him and wish that he could have met my son, his grandson. The one comfort I draw is that he is always close by to both of us and that helps. A truly beautiful poem, well worded and written to perfection.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
