Portrait (Dedicated to my son Malakai)
Never a portrait has been so unique
Implanted on my mind forever
Permanently
The smallest of fingers
that grasp every strand of hair
The smallest of ears waiting to hear
"I love you"
I loved you then, as I love you now
I loved you when I didn't know how
When my days were filled
with only thoughts of you
When my memories didn't remember you
And as my cheeks fall prey
to your sun bitten lips
I remember why I wanted this
For a woman can never know
such sweet bliss
Till a child is hangin on to her hips
Implanted on my mind forever
Permanently
The smallest of fingers
that grasp every strand of hair
The smallest of ears waiting to hear
"I love you"
I loved you then, as I love you now
I loved you when I didn't know how
When my days were filled
with only thoughts of you
When my memories didn't remember you
And as my cheeks fall prey
to your sun bitten lips
I remember why I wanted this
For a woman can never know
such sweet bliss
Till a child is hangin on to her hips
