Raw

Scrape
Drag
Pull
Not enough to draw blood
Just until it’s all raw
Until the burn on my arm
Hurts more than the flame in my heart
Til the pain in my existence
Is no longer at the fore.
Then scrape, drag, and pull some more.

I understand this poem all to well. Well written.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
