Reaching The Stars

Reaching The Stars

She stood on this earth
And reach for the sky
Determined at heart
And strong enough to fly

She dazzled this world
With brilliance, unlike any other
Out numbered by men
Her talent shown through

With direction in mind
She marched forward
Not yet refined

She new no boundaries
Her personality often dared to show itself
In flight and in life
The clouds were her dreams

Her unfortunate departure
Will all but be forgotten
Her face will be forever
Placed into our minds.

You know, my childhood hero was Amelia Earhart. I think I recognize a tribute to her in here. You know she invented coolots because she couldn't run in a dress. And nobody was going to tell her that she couldn't run - or fly for that matter. A great tribute, my friend.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
