Remembering
There are times when...I can taste you
Feel the excitement your nearness generated in me
The smell of you
after a shared scented bath
The sound of your heartbeat nestled in your embrace
The newness of love given and received
and
It jolts my heart
And then...
The intrusion of all the unfulfilled passinate promises awakens
The others sharing your attention
The unattended loose ended past
The confusion lies created
and
It pricks my heart
There are times....
The memory of that beautiful, crystal clear, wind caressing day
That pained you away from me overpower my thoughts
Tasting the love on your lips
Seeing the shared heartache in your eyes
Feeling the desire in your embrace
And then...
The loneliness felt watching you walk away
Boarding the plane that was talking you away from me into her arms
and
It pelts my heart
There the remembered phone calls desperately clinging
to the love our hearts could not deny
Yet, our lifestyles would not adjust to
Inundate my existence
As you swore to be who you never could become
And then...
It is through remembering solace arises
Relieving resentment
Calming confusion
Restoring confidence
The easement of emotions
The alleviation of anger
AND
The healing of heartache
Never will your love be forgotten nor regretted
You taught me...
Love exist
when found
Receive
Protect
Enjoy
And if need be
Release it
Never eradicating the positives
Nor fabricating the negatives
Remembering
Reclaiming
