    HISTORY'S PERMANENCE

Please, don't tell me not to remember
Though long ago the days; burning still the amber

Please, don't pretend it didn't happen
Eradicating your consciences as ignorance deepens

Don't ignore the wounds, the bruising of the soul
An entrenched desecration, of a people standing bold

Don't tell me the pain's an illusion; the embittered years
Restraining your guiltlessness, of time's exhausted tears

For my spirit weeps through the living for the dead
My soul protest this wretched allusion, an unadulterated dread

Heritage stripped away by the captive's ships
The hangman's noose, the hooded terror, the masters' whips

Will the fathers dance no more, hearts strong and bold
Dancing, rejoicing, bathe in a heritage, vast magnitude untold

Shall the children's laughter not be a resounding vibration
Weakening sorrow's tyranny, of a nation's exploited separation

Hear my spirits howling; for the living and the once was
Feel my soul's frenzied tracing, the creation of my forefathers' scars

Buried in the legacy of the first created
Infused in the sequence, slavery infliterated

Will the fathers dance no more, with hearts strong and true
Can the children's laughter rebuild the foundation anew

For my spirit weeps for the living through the dead
My soul protest this wretched allusion, an unadulterated dread

Please, don't tell me not to remember
If the soul's healings are in past remembrances
Please, don't pretend it didn't happen
For if igorance expands, where's the future's assurance

    History is permanent
    The Future is conditional

Thanks....most of my poems takes a second read..LOL

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.
