SCATTERED PETALS

You are the stranger everyone knows
You could have been anyone
But you are still
Some mother's child
A child
Lost
For stupidity
Your innocence stolen
A single flame burning
Extinguished
way to soon
You warmed everyones hearts
Your parents,
Your younger brother
All that surrounded you

Just as fast
your rose was plucked
the petals left
to scatter in the wind
for everyone to see

This is so sad. I suppose it raises that age old question of why. Very nice treatment of untimely death.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
