Something Like That
I walk your way and you
walk mine, but we don’t meet
and we stare right through.
We used to talk and feel the heat,
but you said you needed time,
and I said that'd be just fine.
And I still love you,
though you don’t know.
I sometimes wonder who
could help me make it through.
Then I realized that no one could take
your place in my heart today
and that I might never make
it through this way.
Day by day, and week by week
my heart bleeds.
It has sprung a leak.
My life cedes.
I have friends who laugh,
while my parents gasp.
Mom loves you like a son,
and you have no clue,
but my dad wants a gun:
to shoot you through and through.
To remove you from my life,
and end the never-ending strife.
