Soul Searching

Last night I dreamt I could fly

Not in a plane, not like a bird

I ascended into the darkened night

Soaring through the expansive sky

I flew higher and higher

Until I met you

I met your spirit and we danced in the stars

Embracing, we became as one

I flew not with wings,

But from somewhere deep within

I hovered over your body as it lay sleeping

I softly touched your face,

Wiping the hair from your brow

I whispered “We are as one now.”

Then I awakened to find you

Wrapped tightly in my arms

But where were you before I slept?

I'm gald you like it.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
