Starbucks Gum and Popcorn
You are Everywhere
Every room of the house
Countless restaurants
Numerous songs
On the floor
Lingering in doorways
Running through the halls
Riding in the car
Talking on the phone
Sitting in the movie theatre
Listening to country radio
Starbucks gum and popcorn
Fall football games
You’re just not gone
Blue suede shoes
Leather jackets too
At the sound of Live bar bands
There’s an image of you
The scent of vanilla and classic books
Crisp evening walks with
Homemade chicken noodle soup
A notebook for final drafts
Christmas gifts and a thousand laughs
Singing, guitar strings
Drum set beats
Cream colored sweaters
Piano keys
Pachelbel cannon
Even church pews
Swaying from side to side
I’m finally finding
There was so much of you
I know you were always around
Back then but the significance
Is surfacing now
I didn’t realize it at the time
You were holding on tight
To the line we were stringing you along with
And I was too young and overlooked
The things I mistook
Making you fit
You reached out to me
Everything you meant
Can’t you see I can’t forget?
Here and there are memories
You are everywhere
