The High Road
We spent all this time talking in rhyme and talking in circles
Going ‘round
And I thought you and I would be worth it
We’d be worth it
All the things you told me
Everything that’s wrong
Are all the thing you’re doing
That’s your plan all along
Break me down just so you could be the one
To build me back up again
Draw it out so I can only see the sun
If you’re there to help me stand
You don’t know who I am
Yeah you hurt me
You can’t see what I can
You have no mercy
I was your number one
For a while for a while
I didn’t know
I just falling in line falling so blind
With your pattern
Time and time over
You and I were fragile
But I always needed closer
So I would bear the battle
Give me so much just so I could be in your debt
When the time came
Holding out your hand just to take it back
After you’re in my head
You don’t know who I am
Yeah you hurt me
You can’t see what I can
You have no mercy
And it’s not fair
No its not fair
And when you think that I’m not looking
You stab me in the back
Just when I thought we were finally working
You go and change the facts
And it’s not fair
No its not fair
Even when I know I took the higher road
You make me feel like I did wrong
You did exactly what you told me you were
trying to save me from
No its’ not fair
You don’t know who I am
Yeah you hurt me
You can’t see what I can
You have no mercy
