Vindicated
I know this town like
The back of my hand
But it feels foreign to me
Now
We used to be alive and free
Now its forever winter time
With ice covered streets
I wish you believed me
Somewhere with once a warm
Summer breeze
And crisp Holiday air
There is nothing left here but
Hidden secrets and words unsaid like
Fallen leaves, cold and wet
You’re on my mind
Oh how I wish you weren’t
Ignoring what is right
Holding on tight to something fake
You gave us scars we didn’t deserve
I’m waiting for the signs
Of the day you finally see
But I know it’s not that easy
Even too much sunshine burns
I’m waiting for you to learn
Things can change
Please, stop this game
I’m tired of playing
I’ve tried to get you to
Open your eyes
Time and time again
To see what I see
You’re almost there
You’re wavering
Like the trees through the wind
Snow is just melting ice
Maybe we could be like that
Wouldn’t it be nice
If we could laugh
Things are never going to be
Like they were before
I’m just hoping for the chance
To move forward
Like each new day
The rolling tide washes the beach
With a fresh rush of waves
Can you take a chance and walk on
Your own and leave
Can you make a change and
Vindicate me
