The Love Letter
We started out with good intentions, now look at us
Throwing knives disguised as I love yous
Intending to torture the one we thought we loved
Resentment tinges our every words
How we act so well
Portraying a beautiful relationship
How far we have sunk
Our purpose, our reason for the need
Of each others warm touch
Have we ignored it enough to no longer know
Where we misplaced it.
Singing I love you through gritted teeth and
Razor wired hearts
Courage we know nothing of
Who is stronger? The wind that blows
Or the pillar that stands
The sacrifice is meaningless unless
Both have equally bled upon each other
Shed crimson tears for
One another
No one can save us as we
Willfully dance on the
Splintering words we exhale
Under our breath.
Throwing knives disguised as I love yous
Intending to torture the one we thought we loved
Resentment tinges our every words
How we act so well
Portraying a beautiful relationship
How far we have sunk
Our purpose, our reason for the need
Of each others warm touch
Have we ignored it enough to no longer know
Where we misplaced it.
Singing I love you through gritted teeth and
Razor wired hearts
Courage we know nothing of
Who is stronger? The wind that blows
Or the pillar that stands
The sacrifice is meaningless unless
Both have equally bled upon each other
Shed crimson tears for
One another
No one can save us as we
Willfully dance on the
Splintering words we exhale
Under our breath.
