    The Other Self

Insatiable urges to touch my lost shadow
Redundant attempts to remember my name
Meeting outside of a remnant illusion
But nothing will change it will all stay the same
Illusion blends in with frustration and anguish
I take a deep breath and dive into fear
Swimming through doubt I begin to skink deeper
And for once in my life, the answers are clear
The freedom ahead, makes my mind wander
Beyond all I know and far past my pride
And then my better half…I’ve kept her well hidden
    Relinquishes my better side
“Hello,” I say to this lost stranger
She looks at me then backs away
For I’ve become a shameless monster
Some puppet or a doll from clay
So I scream to her, “I’m sorry!”
As the tears stream down my face
And she turns away in sorrow
    Leaving me alone in space…

I like this; it painted a vague yet powerful image in my mind. "My lost shadow" - that has a lot of meaning to me.
