The Taking

There were signs that This was coming. . .
Everyone was quiet when they came close by. ..
But THEIR EYES, their eyes, They did accuse me.

My movement was restricted unnecesserarily.
My wardrobe was monitored closely.
All the words I said were studied carefully.
I was not free.
I did not feel Free.

I knew the end was near, when they brought in a distraction...
an Aunt I had grieved for, one I had not spoken with in some time...
She came to me and acted as though she had always meant to come to me.

She was there to take me away,
For I would go with her,
I had no reason not to trust her,
But I had many reasons NOT to trust the Others.

The Others carefully orchestrated this plan,
and now they had succeeded.

For I longed for contact with this Aunt,
and now she presented herself to me.

The decision was easy,
She was grateful,
I felt betrayed,
I knew I had been had,
But it was the right choice.

Interesting Write, I thoroughly enjoyed your piece, but must admit to being confused, is this a poem about death or some kindof trickery or deceit being played out by a group on one individual....Thanks for sharing!

It seems like a real story but in poetry. I like this one because it's kind of like your confused.

Thanks, Dreamer 123, that is exactly what I was going for.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.
