    The Wait

    The Wait

From broken dreams, to broken hearts,
The road through life is hard.
It seems to happen more than once,
Some say it’s in the cards.

Love is a gamble we all must take,
    It’s better than being alone.
Love is a gamble that some of us fake,
    For selfishness all our own.

When the road that we follow,
    Comes to a dead end.
    And there’s nothing but sorrow,
And we need a true friend.

    We think of our pass,
    And remember good times.
    The people we knew,
    Oh so special and kind.

    You can not forget,
How he felt next to you.
    How tender and loving,
    It’s  then that you knew.

    What would he say,
    If you called him again.
    Would he still be there,
    And remember a good friend.

    You pick up the phone,
    For the twentieth time.
    And dial in his number,
    And hope all is fine.

    He finally answers,
    Surprised that it‘s you.
    To hear your sweet voice,
    So loving and true.

    From that moment on,
    You knew in your heart.
    That this special someone,
    Would never depart.

    For he felt the same,
    And was thinking of you.
    Each day and each night,
    His love for you grew.

    Now that we know,
    What the future will be.
    A life of togetherness.
    Just Paula and me.

Nice flow, and rhythm, I liked the story too, How long did you have to wait, until Paula came to you?

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
