This is Me, For You
This is me, down on my knees
Gravelling for forgiveness from you
For taking your precious gesture, the flowers
And treating them like yesterday's trash
This is me, looking for some understanding
Some sense that what I am telling you
Is, in fact, heard and registered as truth
For if you don't believe, there is nothing to fight for
This is me, bleeding and vulnerable
I place myself out here on display
I'm wide open and terrified at what you might say
Because the harsh words from a loved one cut deep
This is me, a simple man who loves you
Deeper than he has ever loved anyone else before
My arms are outstretched and my heart is bare
Can you not witnedd each beat echo your name?
Tis is me, never again wanting to see you hurt
But who smetimes feels compelled to lash out
At the loved one whose words slash my soul
If loveis what fills your heart, then why choose anger?
This is me, yours now, just as I have been
Nothing's waivered or altered within
Gravelling for forgiveness from you
For taking your precious gesture, the flowers
