Time

The silence of concrete walls
Dampness fills the air
Nothing but my thoughts
Heart ache beyond repair
Wasted years in Prison
Innocent as they come
Thirty Six years in waiting
And my time will be done
I killed a man who deserved it
His crimes did he hide
I sought hatred and revenge
For his betrayal
For his lies
Waxed in my heart
Never will be the same
I sit here like a rock
Empty
Lame
There is a book near my mattress
That i have read time and again
Telling me to pray
To ask forgiveness for my sin
I asked God to forgive me
For  each of my crimes
But if i had to do it again
There is plenty of time

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
