Tracks

If I should stroll along God’s seashore,
If I should turn and look at where I’ve trod,
I would only see my footprints.
But I must look deeper to see the truth.

There was never just one set of prints.
There were also the footprints of Jesus.
And though not seen by the unbelieving eye,
None-the-less, they were always there.

I know that at times even I could see only one set.
But I know it was not He who left the path, not I.
And should I look closer, His prints are deeper then.
For that is the time He carried me.

Now, as I look ahead, I see three sets of prints.
His, mine and yours.
For He has sent you to walk beside me.
And we shall walk beside Him.

As we go forward, we’ll at times see three sets.
Other times, there may be two.
And then, sometimes only one, but look deeper.
His prints will show the weight of our burden.

Then we shall know.  He now carries us both.
