Written in Red
When my very soul cries out for direction
When all hope seems like its gone
I open my bible to those words in red
“For man shall not live by bread alone.”
As I mature, I find more truth in those words
And I read them time and time again.
For when I wonder what to do, I hear
“Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Without His words of encouragement and faith
I'd be a ship adrift at sea.
Words of love I cannot keep to myself
“Giveth to him that ask of thee.”
From the one who proved His love
His words they rend me still.
I know that He will make me whole each day
“I come not to destroy, but to fulfill.”
He's taught me to revere my Trinity
In one accord, they're all the same.
“My Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.”
My rewards are not to be found on earth
New raiments await me, I know.
“ For where your treasure is,
There will your heart be also. “
Yes, these words in red, may they guide your life
These words, they'll set you free.
Live these words and you'll never hear
“I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
