    True Love

I won’t let him see the tears fall
I hide one of them now,

    and I’ll hide them all

He grins down at me and I force out a smile

I remember when I used to wish he was just in denial

Now it is obvious that I love him as he loves her

As this goes on, it just gets harder

Why must I torture myself like this?

Why do I stand here and watch them kiss?

Why, when I love him so much,

And when I would kill just to feel his gentle touch

True love is in the air,

but I can never tell him how much I care

Because his love lies with her,

True love is a confusing, cruel world

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
