Poem Commentary

For my love, i love our midnight walks. i cant wait to go back to our grand oak tree.

Two Steps Sound as One

Walking slowly,
Hand in hand,
Footsteps keeping time.
Small shadows,
Darkness all around,
Above, the moon's light shines.
We've walked this path a million times,
And will a million more.
Silhouette ahead,
An oak tree grand,
Rooted deep within the earthen floor.
Frogs, they croak as crickets chirp,
A pond glistens, standing still.
Tall blades of grass,
Sway and dance,
Night breeze, it brings a chill.
The breeze so gentle, soothing even,
Is almost like a kiss.
A kiss I long for you to give,
'Till then we reminisce.
Remember times of good and bad,
Of old and some of new.
Recall the thoughts and dreams we had,
Yours of me,
And mine of you.
We share a laugh such time has passed,
Such trials overcome.
But here we are,
Together now,
Where two steps sound as one.
The night goes still, we stand and gaze,
Into each other's eyes.
They shine right back,
Just like the stars,
Twinkling, wrapped, in onyx skies.
Slowly upon, my lips you rest,
The warmth your love supplies.
A long embrace, and then we part,
But only ever slight.
Fore our hands still clasp,
And feet still step,
In time throughout the night.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.
