Warning to the Twins
“Warning to the Twins”
Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dumb
Where walking through the woods one day
When Alice came upon them
With her step so slight and queer.
In her ringing voice she warned them
Of the danger coming near;
Of the Evil waiting for them just
Beyond the eve of ‘year.
“In the morrow of the Future
Do expect your greatest fear,”
She warned the Twins so heartily
Wishing they would hear.
Her wish was more than useless
As their laughter filled the air.
With a final word of warning Alice
Turned away in fear.
As she waltz away she heard them,
So very loud and clear,
Laughing at her warning
That she meant as quite sincere.
Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dumb,
With laughter on their lips
Continued on their way
To seek adventures Far and Near.
Not far above their heads
The storm clouds came in fierce.
The Twins looked to one another,
With Her warning in their ears.
Grasping hands they ran for cover
Hoping to escape their dreadful fate.
In the arms of one another
They could not help but shed a tear.
As they sat there cold and scared
Time passed at a rate not fair.
As the morrow of the Future
Came so very near.
With the clap and ring of Thunder
And the mighty boom of Lightning
The Twins huddled close together
And their folly now was clear.
Loudly in their minds
Alice’s warning echoed clear
As they realized there was nothing they could do,
As their fate became ever clear.
With a great beastly growl
The night was split by the mighty fires high
To strike the very place they hid
And now the Twins felt no more fear.
As Alice pranced along,
Her road so very clear,
Her lost friends where on her mind
And she dropped a single tear.
Now there’s nothing left to fear,
Nor is there much to cheer.
Again she’ll repeat her warning
Of the danger coming near…
