You’re better off Indy!
In the beginning, not since the delight of rap
Inside the start of hip-hop music’s early stages
Was the game pitching peace through positive pages
The biggest beefs were about your reputation as an M.C.
Or in the good nature of things, backing up your rep, without guns
True rappers holding his or her name up with a microphone
Today, I can’t understand why any consciousness isn’t heard
If he’s not rapping about bling, it’s about clothes, and h- -s
Now, it is all about being commercial enough to sell
In basic and current terms, ‘agendas for any label in existence’
Catering music to those whom will buy, without question, the youth
Who weren’t even around when the game started
Rap music has become so watered down, and conceptualized.
This is why-in my opinion-the rap game is at its decline.
Nobody is really rapping about what’s current except
Artists that aren’t getting played on mainstream radio.
Mainstream radio, the Mecca center for multi-platinum hits!
Not since the delight of rap, that hip-hop was at it’s peak.
Today, it is so much to the chagrin of looks, clothes, SUVs, etc, etc.
And, how many fine and, half naked ladies you see of a video
In the 80s, I can’t remember anyone selling “THUG” culture
And I can’t really harken back to anybody brown nosing
In particular, just to get their music played on the air waves
With the small amount of positive rappers against the mainstream.
And the vast amount of underground artists never getting heard.
We’ll continue to see the game slowing down, and declining.
‘The times we were great before the self-hate’
In the beginning, not since the delight of rap
Inside the start of hip-hop music’s early stages
Was the game pitching peace through positive pages
