Poem Commentary

What better thing to ask the Lord than to be taught to be like Him, learning life's lessons through His eyes.

A pilgrims earnest prayer.

Please show me
better ways to live my life
to embrace and learn from strife
till heaven be revealed in all I see

Please teach me
better ways to love each new day
living by what the golden rule says
perfect as man aught to be

Please lead me
to paths of righteousness
each hour closer to holiness
till I become same with thee

Above all hear my longing plea
from a contrite heart seeking thee.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
