    Alive Forever In My Heart

It started as just an uneventful day, so:

Why did you call my name?
Why did you pick me from all the rest?
    Why was I so mistaken?
How could my heart and soul be so confused?
Why did I feel so safe when I was by your side?

I did not possess the kind to enchant a lover's knot.
I did not possess the lyrics to sing the song you sought.
I did not possess the youthful age that would grace
    your heavenly canvas.
I did not fit the mold of the ones that came before me
    or would come ever more.
I do not recall when my world began to fall.

I only know that a kiss concluded and I deluded and
maybe we should have just talked.

I do not know why I would love and you would not.
I do not know why you are still a part of me despite
    us living  apart.

I only know you will be forever alive  in my heart.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
