    All in the Mind
    Life is in the world; but truer still,
    The world is within life.
    The world is within every single life; and so,
    As there are many lives, so there are many worlds:
    A world--the world--within each life.
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
    Life is feeling, thinking, and dreaming.
    Descartes, Berkeley, and Hume, in one thought were absolutely right:
    Meaningful reality exists only in a thinking, feeling, or dreaming awareness.
    Of all life--nothing outshines the human mind, heart, and soul, for bright!
    From stars and moon and sun, falls light;
    Yet, for us, it is the light of our miraculous minds that truly lights the world.
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
    Inside myself, I am I:
    To me, you are you.
    To you, you are I;
    And to you, I am you.
    Untangle that, and you will know
    Why "Love your neighbor as yourself"
    Is infinitely true.
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
    Some say, because the starry heavens are so vast,
    That humankind are shown to be so insignificant!
    Or that, by the billions of years that yawn in the past,
    We are shown that our bright brevities--that blink in the darkness--
    Mean nothing.
    But those who say so do not understand the meaning of significance,
    Nor the meaning of meaning.
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
    The first necessity for meaning and cognizance is life.
    Meaning and significance can only exist within life--in some individual life.
    And--most magnificently! magically! and tragically--in the life of the mind--
    Even if mortal--of a human being. 
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 
    With all my heart and love of life, I hope and pray,
    Somehow, our minds are not finally mortal.
    I hope and pray for a good new day, after
    The fall of this body into the draping mystery of death. 
    A new good life of bright vision and sweet sound and healthful happy breath.
    Another life of love and friendship and smiles and laughter.
    Let it be that we only appear to be mortal;
    And that what we call death may prove to be God's other door--
    Like the doorway of birth--may death be also a gateway or portal
    To new good life--for me and all my fellow and sister people--
    Regardless of under which, if any, religious mark--
    Star, crescent, cross, spire, moon, sun, or steeple--
    I hope and pray, for me, for my precious friend Brian,
    And for all of us, a new good life--
    Immortal.
