Amassing
We rally for names, as complacencesettles in and dust begins amassing.
No more voices, no large conglomerate
forces. Simply lifeless photos mourned
while their soon fading images smile
back at us.
Is this how they're to be remembered?
Facts pushed back, filtered by
technological flat screens the suffering,
the denial, all in the name of healing,
the absurdity of moving forward.
We converge on newly annointed
monuments. Seemingly tributes to
blood leached by a sad sadistic
executioner.
Mouthpieces voice opinions about polls
where no ballot's been cast. Just like
the empty shell casings fall to the
ground like dice the roll of life; to fight
or deny.
Blatancy I must value you.
Hypocrisy harnesses your wit allowing
those with the means to become stronger,
whilst another youth, not soldier falls
prey to your pristinely sharpened blade.
We articulate at podiums, more posturing
than action, more distraction than
reprocussion, and the concussive chorus
of wailing families makes for great
television.
We have chants, war cries fashioned
of fallacy, molded by the shape shifting
discord of political machine. Squabbling over
bottom lines, and rights now handwritten,
footnoted in the bygone names amassing
little more than historical reference.
