Avalon

  • After a couple years gone, I think it's about time I made a return. Time to upload some poetry.

Avalon

That magical vale of purity fair
Wherein lies beauty, free of despair,
Searched for by men, but was hidden with care.

In the grove of the apples a king lies asleep,
The king once thought dead as his nation did weep,
But no, he does wait for Albion's reap.

Enshrouded in mist, ensorcelled divine,
Therein sits Sang-Grail with its drink of blood wine,
Cast off from the world, offs the grape from the vine.

A crystalline lake lies foggy and dazed,
As an arm of white samite from its depths then is raised
Tis Vivienne fair, the lady so praised.

The nymph and dryad, the sylph and the faun,
All dance full of joy through the night till the dawn,
Such good here on earth is now all but gone,
So will you come with me, to find Avalon?

A sweet take on the "Avalon Fantasy," with poetic influence form the middle romantic period.

You paint a storybook picture with your poem. A fair land of happiness and joy. And if you find it I think the hoards would go but alas they would corrupt it.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
