Christmas Sonnet
Christmas Eve nears once again,
kitchen smells, soft and airy.
Laughter once had caused the din,
Granny's house, light and merry.
Carols and new fallen snow,
games, toys, and merriment.
Santa comes and children glow...
sticky hands of peppermint.
Kids sat 'round impatiently,
the sack was full of wonder.
Tots just gazed so skeptically,
awaiting gifts in number.
That old house, a memory...
Lounging in sweet reverie.
kitchen smells, soft and airy.
Laughter once had caused the din,
Granny's house, light and merry.
Carols and new fallen snow,
games, toys, and merriment.
Santa comes and children glow...
sticky hands of peppermint.
Kids sat 'round impatiently,
the sack was full of wonder.
Tots just gazed so skeptically,
awaiting gifts in number.
That old house, a memory...
Lounging in sweet reverie.
