Dedicated to the one I loved
In this light I see youre eyes, reflecting soft and sweet
The hatred I have kept inside so you will never see
I'm nothing like the doll you see, so high upon my shelf
I'm broken from the inside out, only scars to show myself
The blood that courses through my veins has long since run quite cold
No longer in my chest, in your hand my heart you hold
I'm scared you'll see the sunset in my soul, so light or love
You'll see there's no such angel, no heaven up above
I'm just a girl who can't except this sad reality
Who still believes in love and smiles and what this life could be
You smile at me, my blood grows warm, I feel your tight embrace
When I sleep, I feel your kiss. I see my true loves face
But what is love but words and lies and the eventual broken heart
I see the past and present clear. Your skillfully worked art.
I fell for you, your woven words, your sweet and deadly kiss
Such venom in the way you moved, there was no chance I'd miss
I broke and burned and died that day I fell from atop my shelf
The ashes that had blinded me helped me to see myself
I left the pieces of that life and walked away to see
I found what made me happy. It was simply just to be.
