Elysian Sea

    Elysian Sea

Garbed in robes of grey and white
Breaks the tide at morning light
    Covers o'er the halcyon night

And she inquires of my thoughts
Wants soft to drown the massive knots
That strangle slow the still born plots

Sad, quiet, undisturbed the placid graves
Where once thither trod the star-led waves
The parlous, sapphire scape way paves

A path like no other that man may know
    Abysmal depths that nowhere go
    Concealing galaxies of light below

Where those who've shed the blossom all
And cried the salted, muted call
Their journey, dark, through sodden pall

    The bloodless riverbed has sobbed
Pining the currents that once there throbbed
That great blue mass of water robbed

Took from my breast the heart within
And got to know all I had been
I know that sea-worn grandiloquent grin

That coaxed my lover from my arms
    With ardent oceanic charms
I see them now, the brave alarms

Now, please, let me enter thy peace
Come take my hand, my head do grease
Give me the same moon-kissed release

Do let me go beneath cerulean
And let me sleep in atmosphere foreign
    There azure melts into vermillion

Enter my soul and fills all senses
Down drops the dream of my defenses
Let dawn the sun of consequences

Trite, bright the soft, sweet goldened swells
Loud peal the empty morning bells
While there, below, my heart now dwells
