Music Have I Loved--Part 1
Music—Music I could run with you
Across cities of clouds, the suburbs of stars
I could vanish amongst veils of violets
And lost together like children in love
Are we in a sweetly sweeping melody
How oftentimes I want to take your hand
And fall desperately into your outstretched arms
Forgetting myself in among your stately gardens
Quiet falls the rain within my heart
Reminding me of the solitude with whom
I’ve walked hand in hand withal contentment
Until I met Music strolling ‘neath the juniper
I remove my shoes and join the dance
In which I dance until I cannot feel my feet
And seized with a sudden passion I take hold
Of you—you of whom, silently, within myself
I’ve longed to taste and melt together like butter
You that touched a place in my soul and made your mark
Permanent with a permanence imperishable
And painted me with brilliance and a sensual sweetness
Now I don’t remember how to live
For with the gentle touch of your hand
I’ve transcended into a creature of passion and beauty
And I cannot return through the waters dark,
Without mercy, in their grey complacency
For I live to love you---you whose name is Music
Across cities of clouds, the suburbs of stars
I could vanish amongst veils of violets
And lost together like children in love
Are we in a sweetly sweeping melody
How oftentimes I want to take your hand
And fall desperately into your outstretched arms
Forgetting myself in among your stately gardens
Quiet falls the rain within my heart
Reminding me of the solitude with whom
I’ve walked hand in hand withal contentment
Until I met Music strolling ‘neath the juniper
I remove my shoes and join the dance
In which I dance until I cannot feel my feet
And seized with a sudden passion I take hold
Of you—you of whom, silently, within myself
I’ve longed to taste and melt together like butter
You that touched a place in my soul and made your mark
Permanent with a permanence imperishable
And painted me with brilliance and a sensual sweetness
Now I don’t remember how to live
For with the gentle touch of your hand
I’ve transcended into a creature of passion and beauty
And I cannot return through the waters dark,
Without mercy, in their grey complacency
For I live to love you---you whose name is Music
