    Epitaph

    Epitaph

    Life’s candle flickered

    from tomorrow’s window

while I breathed through frozen lips,

    and watched her final glow

    dim like a dream

    in the eyes

    of a fading firefly.

Yet in the shadow of time,

her eyes will not be replaced by the sun,

    outshone by the moon,

    or bedazzled by the stars,

    for I will always

feel the warmth of her soul,

    holding my heartbeats

into the echoes of the night.

This poem shines with such divinity in love and devotion in life and in death, beauty and in all ways that the spirit can reach. Just beautiful. Loved it! A Favorite! Bless You!

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
