    Poem Commentary

    Matt Monro sang “How soon the flame of love can die. How soon goodnight becomes goodbye. You’re gone now and life goes on now, and everything seems out of tune …”

    How soon can one’s love die!

    But how soon can the other forget?

    how soon...

    you left me broken-hearted
    and brought my cheer along.
    the thought that we have parted
    remains my saddest song.
    though words were left unspoken,
    i clearly understood
    vows must be kept unbroken
    as chaste and true love should.

    yet you set off to wander.
    i languished in disdain
    and spent my days meander
    in anguish and in pain.
    the nights found me forsaken;
    like lonely lullabies,
    sheer thoughts of you have stolen
    sweet slumber from my eyes.

    i yearned then for your presence
    since Solace soundly slept;
    unleashed my grief in silence
    while my pen mutely wept.
    i can but write how Sorrow
    increased a hundredfold
    or i shall meet tomorrow
    my solitude untold.

    you fill my days with longing,
    your absence now and then
    instill shy hopes of having
    you in my arms again.
    how soon our parting banished
    the joy when we first met
    shall take your love that perished,
    a lifetime to forget!

    You hit me, mate. I was once a man in despair longing for my lover, totally depressed. However I chose to move on and found another. Well penned, mate.

    Oh the parallel of our hearts so far apart on distant lands yet so much the same. I feel your heart felt wonders I too felt that blue, just to have you ponder the newness of a tune a song we both are singing to an all familiar room . Keep your voice forth coming so I know I'm not along, together we can welcome, a bright new dawning moon! To you I send a rainbow of energy for your head in hopes that it follow another one for the rest! Bless your heart and soul, keep writing for if even one finds it and feels they are not alone then it was good you wrote it!

    It's a marvel to discover that there’s someone out there who feels my blue and sings my song too. The bright new dawning moon shall remind that however distant apart, we are still in an all familiar room bridged by our rainbow. Bless your heart and soul too, my friend from long ago... zaph
