I Live For Nascar Days

I LIVE FOR NASCAR DAYS

We bow our heads for drivers past

Before each race begins

And pray the track stays safe today

And that our driver wins

The Green flag drops and engines race

And thunder sounds below

And every fan is on their feet

To watch them start the show

The competition’s here to win

All pressed up in the pack

There’s a steely glare in every mirror

On a 28,000 horse race track

On every turn the danger lurks

And tempers start to warm

The spotters perched up high above

Will guide them through the storm

The final lap approaches fast

They’re coming out three wide

The white flag drops, we rise as one

To see them side by side

One final round of thunder sounds

The checkered flag is raised

A hero flies across the line

I live for Nascar Days!

YOu know I never have been to a race although there is a car track not far from where I live. However your vivid imagery is like a film before my eyes. Thanks for the race! ginga

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
