I tried to love you with honesty and trust
I tried to indicate to you what i was feeling was love and not lust
I tried to give you my heart with no strings attached
I tried to be enough for you without others being involved and by you, I got attacked.

I tried to sooth your hearts every ache and pain by assuring you that I would always be there for you.
I tried to live everyday as if it were our last and make you see that what you were seeing and feeling was true.

I tried to ease pains in your longing body by rubbing you up and down with hands that took you to another world.
I tried to make you feel like a diamond, ruby, or a newly polished pearl.

I tried to look in your eyes to see if I was the only one there or if there was another.
I tried to look over the fact when I looked into your eyes i indeed saw another.

I tried to understand your constant staring in space that indicated you were thinking of someone or something.
I tried to pay you a penny for your thoughts so i could understand what you were thinking and feeling.

I tried to move back and let you have the friends you so desired despite of my feelings and thoughts.
I tried to swallow my pride and feelings of not being enough and not being your first and final choice.
I tried to see us in the future but all I see is us in the past.
I tried to come up with every excuse to justify why I always found myself wondering and pondering if or how long we'll last.

I tried to evaluate myself to see what I was doing wrong.
I tried to cover the hurt and anguish I was feeling with a song.
I tried to be that excitement in your life.
I tried to be your husband and you my wife.

I tried to make you understand we both made mistakes.
I tried to make you see it is beside you that I awake
I tried to fix the problems I created by words, actions and deeds.
I tried to except the fact your heart was hardened and at this point you're not pleased.

After all is said and done, whatever the future holds,
However the wind blows,
where ever our paths cross and when the winds turn cold
I can stand faithfully alone, with no regrets and with confidence in my stand knowing that everything was all in God's plan.
And all that's left to say is I TRIED.
