    Poem Commentary

    inspired by a friend stricken with crippling psoriatic arthritus a disease of which there is no actual known cure. 

    Impenetrable Fortress... I

    I… impenetrable fortress… I.

    In armor forged

    from anger's hot pain,

    with jagged steel honed into razors,

    slashing in silence… I...


    Lessons shall lessen,

    as less we endure,

    potions we conjure

    for toxins, the cure.


    Lashes of living,

    each scar’s ecstasy,

    flaunting life’s drama

    for eternity…


    Fight for the climax

    of pain understood.

    Fight for the pinnacle

    as sufferance breeds good.

    The anguish of seronegative spondyloarthropathy. I have had the misfortune to treat patients with this disease. You decipher the transformation of it very well. Hope is never lost. As more is learned regarding the long-term safety of the biologic agents there is a trend toward earlier use to prevent irreversible joint destruction. There is always something to look forward to. :)) Great write Nelson!

    You have obviously suffered watching this friend suffer and can relate to their extreme daily anguish they must endure. You have captured the life of living with pain vividly.
