    • No matter how hard I try to let him go, his grasp on my heart is too tight!

    Just So You'll Know

The shivers you send down my spine
When your lips gently touch mine.
    It is an indescribable feeling,
All I know is my heart you are stealing.
The warmth I feel from your touch,
Makes me believe you want me so much.
The way that your body engulfs mine,
Assures me that we will be just fine.
When I am with you I know that you care,
And with you, my heart, I want to share.
But then those times that we're apart,
I'm really not certain how you feel in your heart.
When I look into your captivating brown eyes,
I can see your love and my heart melts inside.
I wish I never had to leave you,
For the times that I do my heart breaks into.
When we're apart I wonder if you think of me at all,
Wanting to talk to you, to hear your voice, if only you would call.
Our time together goes by so fast,
When we're apart I feel as though so many years have passed.
To be in your presence, just to be with you,
Brings joy when you do the things you do.
Then it is time to say goodbye,
We have to go on with our other lives.
    If I were a simple-minded girl I might believe,
That in my arms to stay, one day you would be.
Though I love you my head in not in the clouds,
And I know that to others we both are vowed.
As far fetched as you may think, I do believe we are soul-mates,
Only we've been dealt a complicated hand by fate.
Loving you is one thing I'll never regret,
And the times spent with you I shall never forget.
My dream is to wake up in the mornings to see your face,
For only then will I know for certain I have found my place.

Wow! This is a great poem! Soul mates have a very special connection! That's very interesting with the rhyming, I did not pick up on that until the end...just noticed it in your reply to another. I think your poetry would be great with or without the rhyming.

Rhyming is the only way I can write. If I do it anyother way to me I am just writing a letter. Thank you.

This woman must have tooken a real tole on your life you display a good description of rhyme, and expressing the way you feel about the pain she left in your life. I think thoughts of pain are scattered all over the page and the uncontrollable emotions you display in each line are creative, I see a couple of lines where I believe the ending was not really an ending to this evasive and heart throbbing relationship. My dream is to wake up in the morning to see your face, For only then will I know for certain I have found my place. Great poem

Great Write!!! I like the expressive longing that you shared in this poem. Though I don't agree with stepping outside of one's commitment to their spouse, I think that you did a great job of portraying the thoughts, mindset, and sometimes hopelessness, of one that does look to someone else for whatever reason. Great write. Thanks for sharing. 10

Thank you for your comment. I've never agreed with my situation either and to this day I am not sure how it began. All I know is by the time I realized I loved this person, it was too late, I was too far gone. He truly completes me.

This is your best so far; the longing, the fear of loss, the realization of truth, and the longing for a reverse in fortunes make a really good poem ---M

Thank you so much for your comment. It encourages me to move forward with more poems. Thank you.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.
