Lonely Child

Lonely Child

Lonely child

Lost

Confused

Wandering

With tears rolling down your stained cheeks

Your tattered clothes hardly protect you

From the temperament of Nature

Bitter and cold as it is

One can only wonder

What hardships you have endured.

Share with those around you your sadness

Loneliness

Share with those your memories

And dreams.

Oh, lonely child

Lost

Confused

Wandering

Do not cry because of your fears

And sorrows.

Rise now

High above the clouds

Follow your dreams

And goals.

Let not the sorrows of the world weigh you down!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
