Poem Commentary

Memories are things to share sometimes, and some memories we just keep locked in our hearts. I will keep most of mine, remembering all the good times I have had, to take with me when I leave this earth. Other memories shared will remain alive in someone else time and place of heart. Written by Mae Futter Stein

MEMORABLE THINGS

Memory is the way of holding

Many things to tell

Nothing is more memorable

Then a scent so sweet to smell

Momentary and fleeting

 A childhood’s summer lake

Trips to snow-topped mountains

 Our family use to take

OR

Sitting at a moon light beach

 While gazing off a far

Counting with a tender love

 Each magnificent star

Fortunate to be alive

Building from the start

Moments to last forever

 Locked within your heart

OR

Cruising on a river boat

With the one that you love

The world around exploding

 With sparkles from above

Fire’s blaze and papers shred

 Sharing hearts together

A memory makes roses red

 In cold freezing weather

CHARACTER

I am a miser of my memories

With love now lived with you

Moreover, I will never spend them

 Until my life is through

To live in your heart one will find

 Our memory to comply

For memorable times left behind

Are things that will not die

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
