Mighty Little Bat

Poem Commentary

One of the first I ever tried to write. My 24 year old was in the 1st grade at the time and playing his first year of pee wee baseball...

Mighty Little Bat

Mighty Little Bat

That mighty little bat

and all the joy it brings,

It warms my heart so much,

everytime I see it swing...

As it glides across the plate,

I stand and wait to see...

If that mighty little bat,

will connect or be a breeze

So sweet and determined,

to hit every pitch it seems,

That mighty little bat...

with all his childhood dreams

As I watch him joke and play,

I am proud as I can be,

of my mighty little bat...

playing in the Pee Wee League

I have 3 really great sons!

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
