Tail Lights

Tail Lights

Tail Lights

Tail lights in the nite,

riding life's hi-way...

lonely people on the road,

traveling to places...

places unknown...

Burdens they carry,

such a heavy load...

traveling in the nite,

riding in the darkness...

no rest in site...

Tail lights on the road,

...journeys unknown

long endless roads,

beneath the clouds...

a cloud covered moon...

Head lights come...

tail lights go...

So many lonely people,

riding life's hi- way...

lost in a dark,

living for the day...

they will never find

Head lights show,

where you want to go,

Tail lights know...

where you've already been,

Lonely people...

tail lights in the nite,

riding life's hi-way...

searching for a peace,

in search of something,

they will never know....

Everything I write is long, I don't know how to shut up! lol! I wrote this a couple of years ago. It was on a friday night and I had just begun my journey of living alone after a lifetime...anyway I was lonely and watching cars passing in the night... I'm so much better now!

I LOVED this poem. Wonderful imagery, along with that peaceful flow of words you know so well.

I enjoyed your use of tail lights to illustrate the passing of time and head lights showing where you need to go, very creative write 10 from me.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
