Mission Complete

Poem Commentary

Where to start about this selfless hero? Patrick Tillman...college graduate, playing pro-ball for the Arizona Cardinals, decided to enlist (ENLIST) in the Army, and defend this country's freedoms, after 9-11. As a college graduate Pat could have gone in as an officer, but he "chose" to enlist, and fight at the grass roots level...like the person he was...Pat would rather ride a bike or walk...that was just the type of person he was - selfless, humble as could be. Well, on 22 April, 2004, the inevitable happened, and the used reached thousands, that their hero was gone. You can research his story on the following hyperlink. This is my tribute to a great person. Be well Pat. http://www.biography.com/articles/Pat-Tillman-197041

Mission Complete

Gone away, leaving behind millions,
didn't need the fame, nor the money,
just felt a sense of service,
to his country, to his honey.

Joined up, learned how to defend,
  side-by-side with his brother,
for right he'd fight,
  sacrifice like no other.

Back home his dedication known,
for our hero we tip our hat,
our hero died this day,
  his name - simply Pat.

Sgt Tillman had a cause,
felt a need to do more,
thought all should believe,
  "action," he did implore!

We'll miss you, not just on Sunday,
  but the entire year long,
for we need those who do right,
while others find favor in wrong.

Rest now faithful soldier,
  just take a seat,
Your mission here on earth...
  is now complete.

Such a good poem about a young life. Nice tribute...

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
