    Poem Commentary

    Whitney Ann is a lovely young lady, who would shoot me for saying so. I asked her if I could write a poem about her sometime...and she said yes. This wasn't the exact idea I was thinking about, when I considered her name, and its meaning of...White Island of Grace...but hey, this is what came of it. I tried using a little aliteration on this one...I like that format/style.

    White Island of Grace

    Ivory island, gloriously gold,
      sands of silver, frothing foam,
    distantly daring, temptingly tame,
      isolation intriguing, alone ashamed.

    Nestled the night, sailing sheets pound,
      seagulls shriek, silently they sound,
    longing embrace, craving the kiss,
      tis’ his one desire, that he does miss.

    Pictures painted, canvas creations,
      ink, embroidery, imagination employs,
    giving generously, hoping happily,
      a lone albatross, prayerfully patient.
