    My Day

    You ask "How are you?"
    And I wonder
if I were to answer truthfully
    and say
that it has been an ugly day--
    Would you be uncomfortable
    in learning the truth?
    of how
    very ugly it is
    inside today?
    And then I would wonder
at the question in your glance
for we both know that the
    sun is shining.
    Truthfully,
you now wish you never asked.
    And I wonder no more
    and answer
    "I am well, thank you".

I am seriously impressed. These are really good...really good.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
