My Last Goodbye
I'll say my last goodbyeand then I'll say no more;
I'll share my last and final word
while walking out the door.
Remembering some good,
I'll smile and walk away;
for all I have and still have not
I'll face a different day.
I've felt the sting of death:
you've spent your evil years
by poisoning my gentle heart
and playing on my fears.
But I will rise above
the harm that you have done;
forgiveness and sincerity
will prove that I have won.
When I have packed my things
and found a place to be,
while others think revenge is sweet,
I won't let that be me.
How many times I've lost
my self-respect in pain
of insults, lectures, nasty names,
but it was all in vail.
I won't retaliate;
I won't be sad and blue.
I'll say goodbye and walk away
and say a prayer for you.
